AI’s Creativity is a Double-Edged Sword

Alright, here’s my controversial take on AI for companies:

AI is getting tons of hype right now, many comparing it with the late-1990s dot-com bubble. And sure, it’s impressive in a lot of ways.

But let’s be real: AI—especially the large language models—is kind of a loose cannon. It’s creative, but that creativity can actually be a problem when you need precision and consistency.

Here’s what I mean: if you ask the same question 100 times, AI isn’t going to give you the exact same answer every time. It’ll riff, improvise, and throw out variations.

That’s cool if you’re brainstorming ideas or writing a story, but if you’re running a business with strict rules—like banking, healthcare, or anything compliance-heavy—that unpredictability is a ticking time bomb.

A tiny 1% error rate might not sound like much, but in these industries, it can lead to massive headaches, costly mistakes, or even legal trouble.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. The solution isn’t to fix AI—it’s to pair it with something that does excel at precision: Robotic Process Automation.
RPA doesn’t “think” or “create.” It just follows instructions step by step, no deviations, no surprises. It’s the perfect counterbalance to AI’s freewheeling nature.

Over the next couple of years, I predict we’re going to see businesses move toward what it’s called “Agentic RPA”. This is where AI agents team up with RPA to get stuff done.

AI Agents + RPA = Agentic RPA 🚀

AI handles the creative, while RPA takes care of the repetitive, rule-based tasks. Together, they can bring incredible efficiency in operations.

But—and this is a big BUT—even with this dream team, we still need to stay in the loop. Why? Because AI, for all its brilliance, can’t handle ethics, compliance, or quality control without human oversight.

To wrap it up, businesses pouring tons of money into AI just to “keep up” without understanding the bigger picture and having a clear strategy are likely throwing their capital down the drain. Harsh? Maybe. True? Absolutely.
